Gloucester Office
David Purchase: PA to Parmjit Dhanda
‘‘I guess I’m the father figure of the team. I’ve had a very mixed career during the last three decades - bank clerk, Entertainer, office manager and now Personal assistant - but I’ve always been politically active. I was the Chair of the Stroud Constituency Labour Party and have stood as a candidate in the last six Council elections. I am the Chair of the Haresfield Parish Council and vice chair of Governors of Haresfield School in Gloucestershire. I am really looking forward to the challenges that we face over the coming years and I am proud to be part of such a young and progressive team.”

Patricia Delaney: Caseworker in Constituency Office
“I have been working as the caseworker in Parmjit’s constituency office since August 2001 supporting David in his role as PA. Between us we handle the casework that comes in, as well as making surgery appointments and organising Parmjit’s time here in Gloucester. The variety of enquiries received each day I think is a reflection of the diversity of the local population. Whether your query is about a personal issue, or regarding a national or local campaign we’ll do our best to assist you. If you have an issue or a query to put to the Parmjit, you can help us to help you by writing to the office after your initial call, including details of your case with any relevant correspondence. This often means we can be looking into your case whilst you may be waiting for a surgery appointment.”

Westminster Office
James Green: Parliamentary Assistant and Researcher
“As Parmjit’s only member of staff in London I am in charge of running his Westminster office. It is fascinating working in the Houses of Parliament, and with such a mixed workload, no day’s the same. While the work may be varied, my primary focus is the constituents of Gloucester, assisting Parmjit in representing them on a wide range of policy issues. I also work on the literature and general communications material that we produce. It’s great to meet constituents when they come to London for lobbies or to have a tour of the Houses of Parliament. If you live in Gloucester and are planning a visit to London, please give me a call and we can arrange for Parmjit to meet up with you in Westminster.
